Someone once used the phrase "life of the mind" to describe people who are interested in many things, enjoy reading, attending concerts, and discussing everything from world affairs to gardening ideas to sports. This describes the kind of person that I would be attracted to. And I think that it describes me, too.

I believe that I am open minded and am constantly trying to expand my horizons.

I love to go to baseball games and the symphony. I read books (mainly history -- I'm a history teacher) and putter in and outside the house. I like gardening and travel, especially road trips. I enjoy politics and civic engagement, but my passions are rather mundane -- reading the newspaper, going to a movie or concert, sitting on the couch and bicycling (in winter, spinning). And I also must add that I like eating out in non-chain restaurants, usually ethnic. Cooking is another hobby that I enjoy. I can't forget my dogs. The one in my picture is a retreiver mix who lives for frizbees and tennis balls. The other one is a terrier mix -- they're both shelter pups -- who lives for belly rubs.

I like women who are feminine but not afraid to stand up for themselves, who can compete equally with any man. I have two grown daughters who have these attributes and I am understandly very proud of them. They're both professional women in public service.
